Art & music for December 2023

15 11 2023

Greetings, studio fans ~

A couple of community offerings where my “work” is represented are on the calendar for next month on Oʻahu:

One is an art show at ARTS at Marks Garage, corner of Nuuanu avenue and Pauahi street, for most of December. I can meet you at the First Friday evening reception there, too.

The other is the Windward Choral Society’s “Home for the Holidays” winter concert at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Kailua, 148 Makawao St., Kailua. I’m singing! More details in the accompanying images:

Holiday blessings, and be well!

Art and more art

29 06 2023

Just a few more days to catch “Remembering Susan,” an exhibit of hand-dyed tissue-paper collage paintings and ceramics in honor and memory of my friend, teacher, and mentor Susan Rogers-Aregger at ARTS at Marks gallery, 1159 Nuuanu Ave. at Pauahi street in Honolulu Chinatown.

I’ll be at the First Friday closing reception on June 30 from 5 to 7 pm if you’d like to see the unique creations and meet the other artists as well.

ARTS at Marks is a popular venue for affordable art made by local artists. In fact, my work will be in the next show there as well.

For “Mix and Match”—running July 7-28–I am resurrecting four oils that I painted prior (or while) injuring my wrist from the repetitive motion of my brush strokes:

“Life at Ka Punahou,” “Clouds Lifting Over Lanihuli,” “Byodo-In,” and “At Wailupe.”

The opening reception is from 5 to 7 pm on July 7.

“Life at Ka Punahou”

“Clouds Lifting Over Lanihuli”

“At Wailupe”

“Byodo-In”

There is “something” about viewing original fine art in person. Hope you’ll take advantage of the opportunity.

Recommended parking at the Chinatown Municipal Parking Garage.

Be well,

Rebekah

Thanksgiving Day 2021

25 11 2021

Happy Thanksgiving, studio fans! We have so much to be thankful for this year, mindful that there are those less fortunate than us. One thing I am thankful for (please pardon the segue) is the Windward Artists Guild. It is exactly one week before the opening of its Mini Miniature Show running running December 2-8, at The Arts at Marks Garage in Honolulu.

Nineteen artists are represented.
There are three times to visit with me there in person:

On Dec. 2, 12:00 to 2:30 p.m.

At the artists’ reception, Dec. 3, 5 to 8 p.m. This is a First Friday event. There will be temperature checks and vaccination status papers required at the door.

At the pop up craft fair on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4 and 5, from 12 to 5 p.m.

Mahalo to Wendy Roberts for including my mini oil in the lower left of the promo card above. Look!

Thankful for our wellness ~
